So it's towards the end of Austin Fashion Week & I couldn't be more excited. My best friend Drea informed me last weekend that there were some free shows/events going on.  This is just one more thing about Austin that I love - no matter how BIG the event going on, there's usually a handful or in this case more than a handful of FREE offshoot events. We're dragging my Moms along & hopefully I'll get some good pics while we're there.  I've printed up schedules for all three of us & even marked each event we're going to and the special thing about that event, ie: free food, gift bags, wine or whatever.  Whee, this should be a BLAST. Can't wait to hit up Austin Fashion Week with my 2 favorite ladies !  - A

It's no secret to any of my friends that I love to get my DIY on . I think this goes back to my childhood and growing up less than wealthy, my Mom was always about making what she couldn't afford. I never went without, I just had the cheaper or homemade version. That being said, growing up, my brother and I always got the most important things we wanted for birthdays & holidays. I wanted a bike when I was 10, I got it. My brother wanted a Nintendo when they came out, he got it. Christmas and birthdays never disappointed. Thanks to our super hard working parents and loving grandparents, we had most things we really, REALLY, REALLY wanted - or thought we needed at the time.  I was raised to do things on the cheap and save money when and where I could. Then I could spend the money I DID have on fun things, or savings, or bills - whatever need be. Ok, I have to admit something very serious to you all. I get bored. I don't mean with my life in general, but with my surroundings. I like to mix it up a bit and change the feel, function, or layout of a room. I've recently painted the largest wall on Hubs' and my bedroom a color called Crisp Gree n , and now I'm on to our closet doors.  The doors are currently 2 colors of purple, which you can see in the below picture, and I thought we should brighten up the room, so we decided on an off white color. I hit up our local Home Depot yesterday with Moms and checked out all of the awesome sample colors Glidden had available for a mere $2.00 each !  Got the 5 samples up on the wall, and they are:  1. Parchment White 2. Elegant Lace 3.Shamrock White 4. Gold Coast White 5. Cappuccino White   I think we're digging #2 and #5 so far. We can usually narrow it down by half within 10 mins of looking at the dried sample on the wall. We plan on living with the samples up

Since I've lived in Austin since I was 13, I thought I'd make a handy top 10 list of things you should know about this awesomely weird city.  Photo By Me  1.   Vintage Ten So as some of you may - or may not - know, I own a small online shop called Vintage Ten that's hosted on a site called Etsy . Etsy consists of cool handmade stuff, vintage items , supplies and a ton of other neat stuff.
