Why It's Important to Keep a Clear Head During a Crisis
Having a loved one with a chronic disease requires a whole new level of preparedness and awareness. It's important to remember that panicking during a health crisis can actually do more harm than good. Here are just a few of the benefits of not panicking during a health crisis:
You can make better decisions: When we panic, our ability to think clearly and make rational decisions is impaired. By remaining calm and composed, we can better assess the situation and make informed decisions about how to protect ourselves and others.
You can better cope with stress: Panic and anxiety only add to the stress of a health crisis. By staying calm, we can better handle the challenges that come our way and find ways to cope with the stress.
You can be a positive influence on others: When we panic, we can inadvertently spread fear and panic to those around us. By remaining calm and composed, we can be a positive influence on others and help them stay calm as well.
You can better access resources: During a health crisis, it's important to have access to accurate information and resources. Panic can cloud our judgment and make it harder to find the resources we need. By staying calm, we can more easily access the information and resources we need to stay healthy and safe.
While it's natural to feel worried and anxious (I get it, I do a lot also) during a health crisis, it's important to remember the benefits of not panicking. By staying calm and composed, we can better handle the challenges that come our way and make informed decisions about how to protect ourselves and others.
